As the foundation welcomes fall, its latest newsletter offers a glimpse into a summer of residencies, exhibitions, collaborations, and the continued development of its artistic community.
A Summer of Creative Exploration
The Mack Art Foundation’s summer residency program welcomed artists Malin Gabriella Nordin and Nina Rimér, who spent their time painting, exploring New York City, and making weekend trips to the Hamptons.
Their residencies reflect the foundation’s commitment to providing artists with the space and freedom to develop their practices. The summer also included a pop-up residency with British artist Xavier Baxter in Bridgehampton, where he spent several weeks creating in a new environment.
The residency concluded with an open studio party, bringing together collectors, members of the local art community, and visitors from New York City.
Contemporary Art Meets New York History
One of the season’s highlights was the inauguration of the Mack Art Foundation’s rotating exhibition collaboration with designer Frederick Andersson at The Elizabeth Collective, located at 10 West 56th Street in the former residence of Elizabeth Taylor.
The exhibition brings contemporary art into an iconic setting, reflecting the foundation’s vision of creating opportunities for artists beyond traditional gallery spaces.
Featuring work by Nina Rimér, Megan Gabrielle Harris, Bobbi Essers, Malin Gabriella Nordin, Piper Bangs, and Alexander James, the collaboration opens a dialogue between art, design, architecture, and the history of New York.
For the Mack Art Foundation, these partnerships are an opportunity to encourage new forms of creative expression while connecting artists with broader audiences.
The Mack Art Hub: A New Creative Chapter
The foundation is also preparing to launch the Mack Art Hub, a new initiative focused on building community and lasting connections through art.
Located next door to the foundation’s current Huron Street studio in Brooklyn, the Art Hub will offer three new studio spaces with views of the New York City skyline across the East River.
Designed to support both international and New York-based artists, the space will provide opportunities to work, collaborate, and develop new creative projects together.
The initiative represents an important expansion of the foundation’s mission: creating a shared environment where artistic practices can evolve through exchange and collaboration.
Building Community Beyond the Studio
The Mack Art Foundation’s programming extends beyond exhibitions and residencies, with events designed to bring its artistic community together in new ways.
At Apotheke in Red Hook, MAF alumni and friends recently participated in a candle-making workshop, creating their own scents, selecting fragrance palettes, and experimenting with different combinations.
The afternoon offered an opportunity for artists and friends to connect outside the studio, highlighting the importance of community in the foundation’s approach.
The foundation also co-hosted an event at Powerhouse Arts with Liz Munsell, Vice President of Curatorial Arts and a Mack Art Foundation Board Member. The conversation explored the importance of Brooklyn’s arts community and the initiatives supporting its continued growth.
Following the discussion, Powerhouse Arts President Eric Shiner led a tour of the current exhibition, The Ark.
Welcoming a New Generation of Artists
As the fall season begins, the Mack Art Foundation welcomes Canadian-born, Berlin-based painter Andrew Moncrief and Swedish painter Julius Nordvinter to New York as its latest resident artists.
Their arrival continues the foundation’s commitment to creating connections between artists from different backgrounds and creative environments.
The foundation’s growing international network reflects the increasingly global nature of contemporary art, where the exchange of ideas can be just as influential as the studio itself.
