ANREALAGE Presents “JUST AN REAL AGE” in Paris

A 25-collection retrospective curated by Sarah Andelman traces Kunihiko Morinaga’s exploration of the boundary between the ordinary and extraordinary.

ANREALAGE presents “JUST AN REAL AGE,” a pop-up retrospective and shop marking 25 collections in Paris, curated by Sarah Andelman of JUST AN IDEA. Running October 2–5 in the Marais, the exhibition revisits founder Kunihiko Morinaga’s ongoing questioning of the familiar and unfamiliar, the real and unreal.

The collaboration follows a decade of shared history, beginning when Andelman attended ANREALAGE’s Spring/Summer 2016 REFLECT show at Palais de Tokyo. Their relationship continued through the 2019 LVMH Prize, the A/W 2024 OBJECT collection, and subsequent projects.

A Retrospective in Motion

The exhibition spans 25 collections, from S/S 2015 SHADOW through S/S 2027 SKIN. Looks unfold across three rooms, with the first two enclosed in an immaculate white membrane resembling a vacuum-sealed time capsule.

Archival silhouettes rotate on a circular podium beneath the sphere from OBJECT, while robotic arms sweep ultraviolet light across photochromic pieces from A/W 2023–24 =, revealing colors and patterns through light.

The presentation ultimately returns to SKIN, completing a conceptual loop. As A and Z overlap in the ANREALAGE logo to form 25 letters from 26, Morinaga’s 25th Paris collection returns to its beginning: “Past meets present.”

SONGS FOR ANREALAGE

The third space focuses on Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, who first collaborated with Morinaga on the 2024 ballet Mirage. Their shared interest in humans, technology, and experimentation continued through later projects.

Bangalter’s soundtracks for the A/W 2025–26 SCREEN and S/S 2026 ♥ shows play throughout the space, taking physical form for the first time as SONGS FOR ANREALAGE, a single record pressed by The Vinyl Factory.

ANREALAGE SHOP

The ANREALAGE SHOP continues the exhibition’s alphabet concept with 26 iconic objects, each made “just a little different.” Inspired by childhood alphabet books, the selection ranges from a limited-edition marble Apple to a Zester, all carrying the ANREALAGE monogram.

Highlights include furoshiki cloths patchworked from fabrics spanning all 25 Paris collections, a BE@RBRICK inspired by SCREEN, and a traditional Japanese omamori in UV-reactive fabric that reveals its colors in sunlight.

The shop also features pieces from the permanent BALL series, wrapping bottoms, patchwork accessories, flower resin brooches, photochromic bags, selected collaborations, and limited-edition JUST AN REAL AGE merchandise.

After Paris, JUST AN REAL AGE travels to Tokyo, with an opening reception and Sarah Andelman meet-and-greet on October 28, followed by the public opening on October 29.
