Judith Leiber Spring 2027: Fantasy and Collectible Design
Making its Paris Fashion Week debut, Judith Leiber Couture transforms its signature minaudières into sculptural works of art inspired by fable, philosophy, and the creatures of an enchanted forest.
For the first time during Paris Fashion Week, Judith Leiber Couture presented its Spring 2027 collection on September 29, 2026, introducing a new chapter for the Maison under the theme “Fantasy and Collectible Design.”
Presented at Les Étages Rivoli, the collection brings together fashion, art, and design through Judith Leiber’s distinctive minaudières, reimagined as highly detailed sculptural objects.
A Fable in Crystal
Spring 2027 draws inspiration from Isaiah Berlin’s 1953 essay The Hedgehog and the Fox, alongside the ancient philosopher Archilochus’ observation that “the fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing.”
These two philosophies become the starting point for a visual dialogue that unfolds as a forest fable. Across the collection, the timeless race between a tortoise and hare appears alongside Red Riding Hood gathering berries through the woods, while a menagerie of sparkling woodland creatures moves through an imagined enchanted forest.
The result is a collection where storytelling becomes inseparable from design. Each minaudière carries its own character, transforming the accessory into an object of fantasy while retaining the meticulous craftsmanship for which Judith Leiber is known.
From Handbag to Collectible Object
The Spring 2027 collection reimagines the Maison’s signature minaudières as sculptural works of art, combining intricate craftsmanship with playful sophistication and collectible appeal.
The Paris presentation emphasizes the minaudière not simply as an evening accessory, but as a meeting point between fashion, art, and collectible design. Whimsical forms and elaborate details give each piece an expressive presence, creating objects intended to be admired as much as carried.
“I am thrilled to present, for the first time at Paris Fashion Week, and share my Spring 27 collection with the next generation of European collectors,” said Jana Matheson, EVP and Chief Creative Officer of Judith Leiber Couture.
For more than 70 years, Judith Leiber has been associated with evening bags and crystal minaudières distinguished by meticulous attention to detail, handcraftsmanship, and whimsical design. Minaudières from the collection are held in the permanent collections of institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Uffizi Museum in Florence, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Jana Matheson has led the creative direction of Judith Leiber Couture since 2010. Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger joined the brand in 2017 as co-owner, Creative Director, and brand ambassador.
With its first Paris Fashion Week presentation, Spring 2027 places Judith Leiber’s world of fantasy within a new European setting—where philosophy becomes fable, fable becomes sculpture, and the minaudière becomes a collectible work of art.
