EX NIHILO’s DEMON DANCER Turns Fragrance Into Movement

A charged new eau de parfum captures the tension between inner fire, sensuality, and unapologetic self-expression.

A Scent in Motion

With DEMON DANCER, Parisian Haute Parfumerie House EX NIHILO translates the intensity of contemporary dance into fragrance. Inspired by the body in motion, the composition moves between airy freshness and grounded warmth—intimate yet performative, raw yet precise.

The scent follows a dancer’s journey: trance gives way to shared euphoria, while rising energy becomes a lasting impression on skin. Its character is built around contrast, balancing spontaneous brightness with the enveloping intensity of rhythm and physical expression.

The Olfactory Choreography

The opening is immediate and electrifying. Rhubarb brings a vibrant, green sharpness, joined by luminous Bergamot and Blood Orange. Peppermint adds a cool, kinetic edge, creating the sensation of an impulse setting the body into motion.

At the heart, Orange Blossom introduces radiant floral depth, while Blackcurrant adds a tart, pulsing tension. The initial freshness becomes more sensual and emotionally charged.

The drydown settles into a powerful woody-amber structure. Georgywood™ and Akigalawood™ provide texture and verticality, enhanced by the diffusive warmth of Ambrofix™. Musks and Tonka Bean soften the composition, leaving a trail that is vibrant, warm, and deeply resonant.

Visuals Through Movement

To extend DEMON DANCER into image, EX NIHILO collaborated with choreographer and movement director Loys Assal. Known for performances that combine dynamic movement with strong narrative structure, Assal created a campaign built entirely around the body in motion.

The campaign was filmed at Maison Flagey in Brussels, a monumental 1970s radio station designed by Joseph Diongre. The architectural setting reflects EX NIHILO founders’ enduring interest in design, structure, and contemporary visual culture.

A Continuing Creative Dialogue

DEMON DANCER marks another chapter in EX NIHILO’s nine-year creative partnership with Master Perfumer Jordi Fernández. Together, they have developed 14 creations, including BLUE TALISMAN and BROMPTON IMMORTALS, exploring new olfactory territories through intuition, craftsmanship, and freedom.

For DEMON DANCER, Fernández approached scent through the language of dance—translating momentum, tension, release, and physical expression into an olfactory experience.

Founded in Paris in 2013 by Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère, and Benoît Verdier, EX NIHILO has built its identity around exceptional perfumers, fine raw materials, co-creation, and a contemporary vision of luxury.

DEMON DANCER Eau de Parfum launches September 1, 2026.
