DI PETSA’s “HOLY MILK” Turns Motherhood, Ritual and Rebirth Into Fashion

At London Fashion Week, Dimitra Petsa’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection transforms the runway into a surreal meditation on motherhood, self-creation and the body.

For Spring/Summer 2027, Dimitra Petsa turns inward, exploring motherhood not simply as an experience of giving birth, but as an ongoing process of transformation. Titled HOLY MILK, the collection examines the sacred, intimate and symbolic dimensions of motherhood while connecting the body to the ocean as a maternal force.

At the heart of the collection is an idea Petsa describes as “self mothering”—the notion that people continually give birth to new versions of themselves as they grow and change. Milk becomes both substance and metaphor: maternal, erotic, spiritual and transformative, while remaining connected to the natural world.

The collection translates those ideas into a visual language of white, translucency, lace, draping and luminosity. Bridal silhouettes appear beside fluid, body-conscious forms, while liquid surfaces and exposed skin create a tension between delicacy and physicality. Deep blue, black and liquid gold interrupt the predominantly white palette, introducing darker notes of sensuality and drama.

Styled by Ramona Tabita, the looks move between restraint and elaborate adornment. Bare skin meets draped jersey, delicate lace, translucent layers and sculptural forms, while voluminous bridal shapes contrast with silhouettes that follow the body closely.

Jewelry as Transformation

The collection extends beyond clothing through a collaboration with Awe Inspired, the show's official jewelry partner. Pearls, stones, chains and sun motifs appear across layered necklaces, sculptural chokers, cascading earrings and body pieces, becoming an extension of the garments rather than simply an accessory.

Particularly striking are Awe Inspired's “WET” pieces, which echo Petsa's longstanding relationship with water and bodily fluidity. Worn directly against the skin and integrated into the silhouettes, the jewelry reinforces the collection's themes of transformation and ritual. The collaborative jewelry collection is scheduled to launch commercially in March 2027.

When the Runway Becomes Performance

HOLY MILK was conceived not simply as a runway presentation but as a live performance, continuing Petsa's exploration of the space between fashion, ritual and performance art.

Mothers, pregnant models and models carrying glasses of milk moved through the presentation, turning the runway into a surreal ritual of creation and rebirth. Among its defining pieces was a sculptural lactating bra, which released streams of milk during the performance—placing an intimate act associated with motherhood and care within the constructed spectacle of fashion.

The result is a collection in which clothing becomes part of a larger narrative about becoming. Rather than treating motherhood as a fixed identity, Petsa presents it as an evolving state—one connected to creation, transformation, the body and the possibility of beginning again.

For DI PETSA, HOLY MILK ultimately makes fashion a language for ritual and self-discovery. For London Fashion Week, it offered a presentation where garment, body, performance and symbolism were deliberately inseparable.

HOLY MILK is not simply about becoming a mother. It is about continually becoming oneself.
