Ray Chu’s “Fans Only Club” Finds Quiet Strength in Taiwan for SS27
Presented during London Fashion Week, Ray Chu’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection transforms the Sambucus flower into a study of community, identity, sensuality, and fluid tailoring.
Rooted in Taiwan
For Spring/Summer 2027, Ray Chu turns to Taiwan’s Sambucus flower, known locally as 冇骨消, as the central inspiration for “Fans Only Club.” Its delicate white blossoms form cloud-like clusters, creating a visual metaphor for strength through connection, community, and identity.
Founded in Taiwan in 2016, the gender-fluid label translates that idea into a wardrobe of refined tailoring, translucent layers, and body-conscious silhouettes. Botanical forms appear fragmented across original prints, clustered embellishment, subtle textures, and controlled shimmer, balancing precision with fluidity.
“The Sambucus flower does not need to be loud to be noticed,” says founder and creative director Ray Chu. “Each blossom is incredibly small, but when they bloom together, they create something strong and almost otherworldly.”
Botanical Forms, Reimagined
Two prints anchor the collection. Taiwan Banana Club, first introduced in the Pre-Spring 2027 capsule, brings a colorful, nostalgic expression of Taiwanese culture. Sambucus takes the season’s central flower and transforms its clustered blossoms into an abstract contemporary botanical.
Selected looks are illuminated with Swarovski ReCreated™ Crystals, made from crystal manufacturing breakage. Supported by Swarovski, the embellishment introduces a circular dimension to the collection, with delicate formations recalling water droplets, shifting light, and the natural clustering of the Sambucus flower.
Fashion Meets Wearable Art
Ray Chu also introduces a creative collaboration with Japanese artist MOMOJIRI WORKS. Twisting lines, delicate structures, and unexpected proportions reinterpret Chu’s botanical language as pieces that move between jewelry, object, and wearable sculpture.
The collaboration extends the collection’s central theme of transformation: one inspiration becomes two distinct creative interpretations, bringing Chu’s fluid tailoring into dialogue with MOMOJIRI WORKS’ playful approach to form.
Sensuality with a Sense of Humor
A presentation partnership with Hong Kong sexual-wellness brand Hello Nancy adds another playful dimension. The brand sponsored the presentation, with selected looks incorporating pieces from its tennis-inspired Tennis Collection, including Ace and Smash.
The collaboration connects with the colorful, fruit-driven world of Taiwan Banana Club, bringing together fashion, sensuality, humor, and objects through a deliberately lighthearted lens.
Material and Movement
Material innovation remains central to the collection. Lightweight mint-fibre shirting introduces breathability and softness, while Icy Grass jersey provides quick-drying technical comfort.
Across the wardrobe, natural-fibre-based and environmentally conscious fabrics support Chu’s ongoing exploration of material responsibility, function, and longevity. Tailoring remains fundamental to the brand vocabulary, adapted for summer through sheer layers, relaxed shirting, and versatile separates designed to move across bodies, identities, and occasions.
“Rooted in Taiwan. Shaped by a gender-fluid perspective. Brought to light in London.”
That statement captures the collection’s trajectory: cultural identity translated through contemporary tailoring, botanical imagery, material experimentation, and an intentionally playful approach to self-expression.
Ray Chu

For “Fans Only Club,” Chu brings that vocabulary into a collection where delicacy meets structure, transparency meets sensuality, and technical function meets fluidity.
