Gen Art’s “Art Meets Culture” Brings Fashion, Art & New York Energy to CIVILIAN
A new year-round cultural program at CIVILIAN Hotel NYC connects fashion, contemporary art, music, and hospitality through rotating artists and immersive events.
New York’s fashion and creative scene gains a new destination with Gen Art’s “Art Meets Culture,” a year-round program launching at CIVILIAN Hotel NYC. Featuring six rotating artists annually, the initiative brings visual art into the rhythm of the city’s fashion and cultural calendar, with exhibitions, events, and works available for purchase.
The concept extends Gen Art’s longstanding role as a platform for emerging creative talent, placing art directly within a hospitality environment. For fashion audiences, the result is a space where style, art, music, and nightlife naturally intersect—from the hotel lobby to DJ-led gatherings, artist receptions, fashion crossovers, and community events.
“Gen Art has always been about finding compelling creative voices and building a community around what comes next,” said Keri Rokos, owner of Gen Art.
Fashion Meets the Art World
The partnership builds on Gen Art’s relationship with CIVILIAN, its official hotel partner during New York Fashion Week. Previous collaborations have already brought runway fashion, visual art, beauty, and live cultural experiences together.
Among them were runway presentations by Ron Dyce and Mario Miguelito, with Miguelito transforming CIVILIAN’s Starchild rooftop into an immersive setting where fashion and his original artwork became part of the same experience.
During NYFW 2025, Gen Art also presented Hip Hop Beauty, a photographic installation celebrating iconic hip-hop artists and bringing together photography, music, beauty, and cultural history.
SacSix Sets the Tone
The inaugural artist is SacSix, whose New York street-art vocabulary combines wheatpaste, collage, spray paint, acrylic, found street materials, and pop-culture imagery.
His work brings the raw energy of downtown New York into CIVILIAN’s polished hospitality environment, creating a visual conversation between street culture, contemporary art, and fashion. His connection to Studio6 Gallery further ties the project to the Lower East Side creative community.
Three works are currently available through Studio6 Gallery:
The Greatest Show on Earth (2026) — 60 × 72 in.
Urban Zen Garden (2020) — 40 × 40 in.
New York, New York (2021) — 36 × 36 in.
The Greatest Show on Earth was created specifically for the CIVILIAN presentation, while the other works explore themes ranging from finding calm within the city to the visual language of New York itself.
The New Fashion-Culture Meeting Point
“Art Meets Culture” is designed as a living program rather than a traditional exhibition. Six artist rotations each year will continually refresh the hotel’s creative identity, supported by events that bring artists, collectors, fashion insiders, DJs, and New York’s broader creative community together.
For Gen Art, the initiative builds on three decades of connecting emerging designers, filmmakers, musicians, and visual artists with audiences through fashion shows, cultural programming, brand partnerships, and experiential events.
At CIVILIAN, art becomes part of the fashion-week lifestyle—less gallery, more New York scene.
